Throughout time, we’ve always thought that the moon possesses us beyond our comprehension and this concert aims to unpack this through Schonberg’s Pierrot Lunaire a selection of songs. Together, the complexity of our relationship with the moon and night reveals insights on what exactly captivates our fascination here – come along to find out!

Swan Songs takes its audience on a journey through the evolution of French music, opening in the Romantic period with Franck’s Violin Sonata in A major, through to Impressionistic chamber works by Debussy and his contemporaries, Ravel, Satie, and Tailleferre. Through music and complimentary poetry, Swan Songs explores the ephemeral nature of auditory experience. The programme culminates with Debussy’s Sonata for Violin and Piano— his parting gift to the world before his death.

Seascapes is an exploration of this sublime beauty with woodwind instruments, from an exploration of English neo-impressionism in the music of Ruth Gipps and Jonathan Dove to more creative messages about our current global climate from composer Matthew Burtner.
